Rest in peace MJ

Whether you loved him, hated him, admired him or despised him you have probably heard of Michael Jackson if you are over the age of seven, you can probably name a fair few of his hits and one thing is clear, the world of music will be poorer without his presence.

I will miss him, there is of course, as there are with all icons a great deal of sentimentality, Bad was the first record I bought with my own money, hence I feel an attachment to his music more than other artists.

I heard one journalist say 'he was the Elvis of our time' and I think that is probably a fitting tribute. The o2 will now be an empty place over the summer and those who were eagerly awaiting his comeback spectacular will now be mourning his death.

I shan't be crying my heart out but my thoughts go to his family, and especially the three children he leaves behind, it is hard to lose a parent but when the world claims to know that parent and wants to be part of that funeral it becomes so much harder, images of the young Princes Harry and William sprang into my mind and it reminds us that we never know what lies ahead of us and to grab the chances that become available to you.

It isn't only Jackson that has passed, we must also remember Farah Fawcett who lost her battle with cancer yesterday.
