About me

My name is Melanie, otherwise known as Mel or Mummy. I live in Brentwood, Essex with my husband James and our three children Heather (2004), Matthew (2006) and Lucy (2008).

I hold a 2:2 degree in English and American Literature from the University of Kent at Canterbury. Between 1999-2000 I trained as a primary school teacher with the Billericay school centred initial teacher training centre. After Heather was born I returned to teaching but following the arrival of Matthew I decided to be come a full time Mum.

I have been studying for a second degree in Philosophy and Creative writing with the Open University and am on course for a 2:1. I am due to complete this in 2010.

My main ambition is to become a published writer, to have someone read what I have written and be entertained. If they can read my story and forget where they are for the time they are reading I will have achieved my goal. I also aim to write a novel for children. My first novel Tumbling Through Life has now been published. I would love to hear what people think of the novel and am now working on new writing.
